The front parking sensors stopped working completely. Reading the diagnostic code indicated a “Front park assist speaker, Open circuit/short circuit to ground” with code B10F514
The parking sensors on the front of the car were all working, but the faulty speaker disabled the front park assist completely. The fault was fixed by replacing the speaker, which cost about £8. There is no coding to the vehicle, just a straight swap out and the front park assist function is restored.
The hard part is getting access to the speaker to replace it. This is located above the fuse/relay panel which is located behind the glove box.
Simply remove the glove box completely to access the speaker module located on top of the fuse/relay board. I had help from someone who has worked on VW’s and knew what they were doing. As they say, “it’s easy when you know how”. If you’re doing it for the first time, then hopefully the photo’s here will help.
The Radio/Infotainment system is mounted in the glove box. You need to remove this and disconnect the cables. It requires a thin metal release tool to get the unit out. With that removed you can extract the complete glove box assembly.
To remove the trim panel from the left side of the console there is a screw behind the fascia around the three heater/fan control knobs. This needs to be removed (just pulls off). Once removed there is a screw on the left side holding the console trim

The resistance of a good speaker is about 56 ohms. The failed speaker was showing open circuit.
